2009 CWF Touch Rugby Tournament Guidelines
These are the current guidelines for the CWF Touch Tournament

Tournament Overview
The tournament will begin at 0900 on June 27, 2009
The tournament will be on field 1, near the East Columbia Library (6680 Cradlerock Way, Columbia MD)
A Touch training session will be held at 0830. Anyone not familiar with Touch rugby is encouraged to attend
Each player must sign their team's roster, or they are not eligible to play
Each player must fill out and sign a wavier form (available at www.columbiatouchrugby.com)
A MANDATORY captains meeting will be held at 0850 for ALL captains
All captains are expect to have read the Touch rules posted on www..columbiatouchrugby.com
Format
First games begin promptly at 0900
All games will start PROMPTLY at their designated start time, even if one or both teams are not ready
The home team will call the coin flip.
Winner of the coin flip gets choice of opening tap or choice of goals to defend
The loser of the tap gets the choice at the start of the second half
Each game will consist of two 7 1/2 minute halves
There will be no half time. The second half will begin immediately upon the selection of tap or goal to defend by the team that lost the coin flip
There will be 5 minutes between games
Scoring
Each try scored by a male player will be worth one point
Each try scored by a female player will be worth two points
Winner of each game will be the team with the most total points (not necessarily total tries)
Play will continue at the end of each half until a change of possession occurs or a try is scored
Games that end in a tie score will not result in extra time, except in the single-elimination round
In the elimination round, if a game is tied at the end of regulation sudden death will be used, subject to the following:
- The home team will call the coin flip
- The winner of the coin flip will have the choice of initial tap or goal to defend
- The team that scores the first try will be declared the winner
- At the end of each two minutes of play, a player will be dropped from each team, until no less than three people are on the field
Jerseys etc.
Each player is expected to bring at a dark colored shirt/jersey and a white/light colored shirt/jersey
Pinnies are acceptable.
Shirts/jerseys with numbers are not necessary, but preferable
The home team gets the choice of dark or light jersey for that game
NO METAL CLEATS ARE ALLOWED!
Plastic soccer-style cleats and tennis shoes ONLY!!
Game Play
Teams may field less than six players, if necessary
No minimum number of females on the field will be enforced
Unlimited substitutions are allowed
The exiting player must be off the field BEFORE the substituting player may enter the field of play
Back-chatting the ref or other players will not be tolerated, and is subject to penalty and/or ejection
No rough play will be tolerated. Rough play is subject to penalty and/or ejection
Miscellaneous
There will be no concession stand, so bring plenty of water, food etc.
Restrooms are located near the field (and will hopefully be open!)
There are a number of restaurants and stores nearby
There will be a post-tournament gathering at some local establishment (yet to be determined)
